Do I pick someone I plan to make quota with because I want to be comfortable with them for both things, even though they won't be able to get out of the situation for three months?
Do I pick someone who's struggling to fit in and needs help, or someone who won't cause problems for me?
Do I pick someone I plan to live with, or do I figure out how to help them live on their own?
Or do I just pick someone without thinking about the power that I have over them at all?
It's impossible for you to not overthink everything, case in point.
Anyone can live on their own with a decent job and you can get that even without a contract if you know where to look. Doms are just an extra step between renter and landlord. Unless you want someone who's fully dependent on you and the answer there is no you don't.
Not to case in point you again but you haven't exactly nailed fitting in yourself. Pick someone who won't cause you problems over it.
Saying yes to a contract doesn't mean saying yes to sex and saying yes once doesn't mean saying yes every time or the whole time. If someone asks to stop, you stop. Pick someone who believes you when you tell them you get that.
[ she's about to tell Alina that it's even harder on the other side so she better get out there and find someone, but, tragically, she can't be that ignorant. oh she'd love to. even more than that, she'd love to have given better advice when Alina talked to her about quota (and by extension contracts) several weeks back, and have avoided this situation entirely. ]
What makes you think having someone I know here would be less risky?
[ though there is a part of her that, reading jessica's responses, did immediately consider it. she at least trusts jessica enough to be candid about the fact that someone else from ravka is here instead of letting that assumption go uncorrected — in part because she gets the strong sense that jessica has had a similar experience. ]
[ aleksander would not screw himself over just to get at her. probably. but she also knows that if she chose to tie herself to him, it'd give her own feelings a foothold too. better to not. ]
[ Alina is hinting strongly at a pretty fraught relationship, which isn't the kind Jess was recommending. there are people from home she wouldn't bind herself too, either. God help Hogarth's partner if she ever shows up. ]
It's on the table. I'm not going to talk you into it.

Do you trust me?

[ which is a 'no.' it's the people who've done the most to make her feel safe who've been the hardest betrayals. ]

I don't.
Trust takes longer than 3 months. Unless you've got someone you know here, you're gonna have to take a risk on somebody.

I'm in.

I'm gonna keep living down here. I make my own money and I won't knock any numbers off your quota.
