Trust takes longer than 3 months. Unless you've got someone you know here, you're gonna have to take a risk on somebody.

What makes you think having someone I know here would be less risky?

[ though there is a part of her that, reading jessica's responses, did immediately consider it. she at least trusts jessica enough to be candid about the fact that someone else from ravka is here instead of letting that assumption go uncorrected — in part because she gets the strong sense that jessica has had a similar experience. ]

At least you'd have some idea of how they can screw you over.

And they'll be close enough to do it.

[ aleksander would not screw himself over just to get at her. probably. but she also knows that if she chose to tie herself to him, it'd give her own feelings a foothold too. better to not. ]
